A Sense of Place
We proposed to use the void left by 20 years of conflict to develop a better understanding of Beirut. Excavation down to the underlying rock would allow us to integrate what is found from seven centuries into the programme of the Souks. Our aim was to celebrate commercial culture by revealing its depth and complexity in Beiruts natural harbour.
